Tonbridge Radio Flyers was formed in 1967 by a small group of dedicated aeromodellers, to join together people of similar interests in the Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks areas.
We have the use of two flying sites. The first is south of Tonbridge and is used to fly all types of model, including electric, I.C and helicopters. In addition we have a site at Leigh Park Farm which is midway between Leigh and Weald. This site is used for Silent Flight which covers gliders and quiet electrically powered models.
As our title indicates, we do not normally embrace free flight modelling, but we have a few members who participate in this branch of the sport at BMFA area events held on the Ashdown Forest. Also, there is a growing interest in indoor model flying, both free flight and R/c which takes place in the sports hall at the Angel Centre, Tonbridge.
We encourage youngsters to enter the sport of aeromodelling and have special Junior subscription rates up to the age of 18 years. We are able to offer instruction both in building the models and learning to fly them.
